The Hispanic Bar Association of Northeast Florida met Thursday for a luncheon and seminar to shed light on important political developments in Latin America.
Phillip Buhler, president of the Hispanic Bar Association, wanted to provide local attorneys and companies an update on the political shift in Latin America and how it is affecting the United States.
“The seminar addressed the leftward political shift in Latin America and its effect on businesses and the law,” he said. “I wanted to focus on our connection with Latin America.”
Terry McCoy, Ph.D., director of the Latin American Business Environment Program at the University of Florida, and Thomas Leonard, professor of history and director of the International Studies Program at the University of North Florida, spoke at the seminar.
“I organized this because of the leftward political shift and its effects on businesses in Latin America,” said Buhler, who is an attorney with Moseley, Prichard, Parrish, Knight & Jones. “We are interested in it, too, because it is affecting American businesses as well.”
The Hispanic Bar Association cohosted the seminar with the First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The Hispanic Bar Association’s next board meeting is in September. Visit www.hbajax.org for further information.
