In conjunction with The Young Lawyers Section of the Jacksonville Bar Association, U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Corrigan recently hosted 60 summer associates, law students working in local law firms, for a tour of the United States Middle District Courthouse.
The tour included a presentation by Corrigan called the “Six Reasons Why Professionalism is Important.” They are:
1. The rules of ethics are intertwined with professional conduct.
2. Acting professional is simply the right thing to do.
3. Acting professional encourages others to respect the legal system.
4. Acting professionally will help you to establish a reputation as a professional lawyer.
5. Being professional is the most effective way to represent your client.
6. Acting professional reduces your own personal stress and allows you to more fully enjoy the practice of law.
Corrigan also provided tips for young lawyers practicing in Federal Court.
