• Episcopal Children’s Services has chosen LandMar President and CEO Ed Burr as its 2008 Children’s Champion award winner. The election of Burr was a unanimous one by the ECS Foundation Board.

• According to Leadership Florida Chair Jeff Bartel, this year’s 25th Anniversary Annual meeting set for June 28-July 1 at The Breakers has set a record for registrants. The hotel is full and registration for various meetings is so high the meeting rooms are just about at capacity. During the meeting, Teala Milton of JEA will take over as chair for the 2007-08.

• The Cosmic Concert Schedule at the Museum of Science and History for Friday and Saturday are “Laser Swing” at 8 p.m., “Elvis” at 9 p.m. and “Jimmy Buffett” at 10:30 p.m. Admission is $7.

• “Down to Business” host Andy Johnson can now be heard weekdays from 2-5 p.m. on AM-1460 locally. In St. Augustine, the show is on from 3-5 p.m. on AM-1240.

• Cornerstone, the economic development arm of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a regional roundtable on economic development July 20 from 8 a.m.-noon at the St. Johns County Center at the World Golf Village. Angelos Angelou, founder and CEO of AngelouEconomics, will deliver the keynote address on trends and opportunities in economic development.

• Rock Creek Capital has moved its offices to 501 Riverside Avenue.

• Dr. Robert M. Franklin has resigned as a trustee of the Jessie Ball duPont Fund. Franklin was recently named the 10th president of Morehouse College in Atlanta and assumes the post July 2. Fund President Sherry Magill indicated the trustees will name his replacement at a later date.

• Mayor John Peyton has agreed to participate in a show hosted by Ch. 7’s Tom Patton during which Peyton will discuss the property tax issue. The hour-long show will run from 8-9 p.m. on June 13 and feature questions from the radio and TV audience as well as e-mail inquiries.

• Speaking of Peyton, his schedule this week includes either conference calls or face-to-face meetings with five members of the Duval Delegation. The topic is likely the upcoming special session of the Florida Legislature.
