Stellar broke ground last week on the first of three new fire stations that will serve Jacksonville.

Station No. 32 is located at 8162 Lenox Avenue on the Westside and will be a 9,000 square-foot facility with a three-bay, six-truck garage, an eat-in full-service kitchen and quarters for male and female firefighters.

Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton (center) and City Council President-Designate Daniel Davis, who represents the district, moved the first shovels full of dirt along with members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department to commemorate the event.

“Nothing is more important to the citizens of Jacksonville than public safety,” said Peyton. “I am happy to announce Westside residents will be getting a new, state-of-the-art fire station to maintain our focus on maintaining our city’s top-notch fire protection service.”

Stellar is also designing and building two more new fire stations for Jacksonville: No. 5 at 2433 Forrest Street and No. 59 at 14097 W.M. Davis Parkway.
