Academy Award-winning actress Patty Duke spoke about depression to approximately 1,000 people at the Hyatt Tuesday.
The luncheon benefited “U.S. – Women and Girls’ Health Initiative,” a nonprofit organization providing support to programs at the University of North Florida’s Brooks College of Health.
Duke, who has lived with the disease for decades, praised the work of those in Jacksonville battling mental illness.
“Keep doing what you are doing,” she told the crowd. “It is working. You are saving valuable lives.”
