The First Tee golf program on Jacksonville’s northside had a reunion Tuesday of players from the now-closed Brentwood course, which was on the same property as the present facility off of Golfair Boulevard.
About 40 showed up for a round of golf on the 9-hole course and lunch.
First Tee director Pepper Peete said it was a chance for players from the city’s first integrated course to get together, and the group heard an update on the program from Peete and current board members.
The First Tee is part of a nationwide effort to bring the game of golf to inner city youths. In addition to youth programs, the local course is open to the public.
