As a result of the retirement of Circuit Court Judge A.C. Soud, applications are being sought to fill the vacancy in the Fourth Judicial Circuit.

An applicant must be a registered Florida voter and have been a member in good standing of The Florida Bar for the preceding five years. In addition, any applicant chosen by Gov. Charlie Crist must reside in the Fourth Judicial Circuit upon assuming office. Application forms are available by downloading the application from The Florida Bar’s Web site (wwwfloridabar.org) or from the Fourth Circuit’s Judicial Nominating Commission Chair David Wells, an attorney with the local McGuireWoods office. His office is in the Bank of America building on North Laura Street, Suite 3300 and his number is 798-3200.

An original and nine copies of the completed application must be received by Wells in his office no later than noon March 27. Interviews will take place April 24 in the offices of McGuireWoods. Applications will be screened by the Fourth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, which must send at least three names to the governor.

The Fourth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission currently consists of Wells, Vice Chair Cleve Warren, Angela Corey, Terrance James, J. William Prichard, Ava Parker, Merton Munson, Robert O’Quinn and Peter Sleiman.
