• The Museum of Science and History, is showcasing an art exhibition March 30-April 30 called “Elemental Atmospheres: New Contemporary Paintings by Princess Rashid Inspired by Science, Math and the Imagination” in the lobby of the museum.
• Organist Cameron Carpenter is performing at 3 p.m. Sunday at the T-U Center as a part of the Riverside Fine Arts series. Carpenter is known for mixing in various musical genres and pop culture. For more information or to purchase tickets call 389-6222.
• The Jacksonville Suns are looking for bat boys, Sunbeams and singers. They are holding auditions on Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Baseball Grounds. New Sunbeams and bat boys will be interviewed and singers will audition to sing the National Anthem at one of the Suns’ 70 home games. Other positions they are looking to fill include food and beverage staff, ushers, ticket takers, ticket sellers, cleaning personnel and team store employees.
• Condolences to City Council President Michael Corrigan and his family. His grandmother, Ouida Shaw, passed away Tuesday.
• Funding for the widening of First Coast Technology Parkway and the subsequent realignment of Kernan Boulevard is working its through Council. The project will cost just under $9 million and will see First Coast Technology Parkway near the University of North Florida campus widened to six lanes.
• City Council member Gwen Yates has been appointed to serve as Council president through the end of the day Thursday. City Council President Michael Corrigan is out of the office and several other Council members — including Council Vice President Daniel Davis — are in Tallahassee for Jacksonville Day.
• The Wolfson Children’s Hospital is officially opening the Drew Bradbury Center, the primary site for Wolfson Children’s Rehabilitation Services, in the Aetna building. The open house is at 5 p.m. March 20. This is the fourth outpatient clinic for Wolfson Children’s Rehabilitation Services.
• A new restaurant has opened on San Jose Boulevard, Heirlooms - A Culinary Cafe and Market. Some menu items include baked goat cheese pomodoro and chili garlic shrimp. The restaurant offers cafe and terrace dining, a take-out market and catering. Hours are Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
• At Wednesday’s National Association of Industrial and Office Properties meeting, Executive Director of the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission (JEDC) Ron Barton announced that new monthly electronic newsletters will soon be going out via e-mail to those interested in upcoming JEDC events and news.
