The Young Lawyers Division of The Florida Bar and the Young Lawyers Section of the Jacksonville Bar Association teamed up to hold their annual Tee It Up charity golf tournament Thursday at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club’s Ocean Course. While the team of Troy K. Smith, Rene Fix, Bill Dahlenburg and Kevin Rorabaugh from Rogers Towers may have won the event with a low gross score of 61 in the scramble format, the real winner was this year’s recipient.

“We raised $20,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida,” said Katie Dearing, who is a member of the YLS board of governors and chaired the event. She’s also an attorney with Gavin, Liles, Costantino & George.

In fact, the team of David Wilder, Gene Page, Katie Dearing, Robert George and Rutledge Liles from Gavin, Liles, Costantino & George won the low net category with a 62 to finish second overall.

In addition to raising money through the entry fee, Dearing said Zurich Insurance sponsored the beverage cart, various law firms and corporations sponsored each hole and individual donations were accepted.
