The Jacksonville Public Library system has been invited to join just six others in the nation to host the “Branching Out: Poetry for the 21st Century” program sponsored by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Events are scheduled at several branch libraries, including Edward Hirsch’s presentation on the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca May 8 at 6 p.m. at the Main Library. The poetry of Langston Hughes will be celebrated June 12. If you want to create a poem yourself, visit the Main Library and try your hand at the magnetic bulletin board (shown above) on the first floor near the Teen Section. For more information, visit the Jacksonville Pubic Library page at www.jpl.coj.net.
