Mock said the department is interested in spending some of its Homeland Security funding on equipment that could provide essential communications capabilities for mobile response teams in areas that have experienced natural disasters such as hurricanes. A camera attached to the front of a moving truck sent a satellite video stream to firefighters watching on a monitor several miles away. Mock said he was also impressed by the wireless Internet with a 2-mile range.
