• The Jacksonville Aviation Authority is hosting a public workshop Tuesday at Cecil Field from 6-8 p.m. The workshop will allow JAA to provide the public with information about its proposed Reusable Launch Vehicle program. JAA is currently in the process of submitting documentation to the Federal Aviation Administration Office of Commercial Space Transportation in an effort to obtain the proper licensing for commercial space operations at Cecil.
• Again this year the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce is partnering with its members to take kids to the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl. Called the “Take a Child to the Game Program,” the initiative encourages local businesses to purchase a ticket to the Jan. 1 game and then donate that ticket to the Jacksonville Children’s Commission. • The Museum of Science and History is hosting their annual “Breakfast with Santa” event Dec. 1 & 8 beginning at 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. A continental breakfast will be served. Admission to “Breakfast with Santa,” which includes Museum admission, is $12 for adults, $10 for children 3-12 and $3 for children 2 and under. Reservations and pre-payment is required. • The St. Johns River City Band will present “Yuletide Swing” during Art Walk at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Jacksonville Main Library’s Auditorium. Admission is free and parking is available in the Duval Street garage.
• Arts educators practicing in Duval, Clay, Baker, Nassau and St. Johns counties are invited to submit their work for the annual First Coast Portfolio sponsored by the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville. Selected entries will be exhibited Jan. 26 - March 23 at the museum. There is no participation fee and each educator may enter up to five works. Deadline for submissions is Dec. 1. • Anheuser-Busch Cos., Inc. continued a 15-year tradition by making a $10,000 donation to the Jacksonville Jewish Federation (JJF). The funds will support education, social welfare and human services provided on a non-sectarian basis by the organization and its local, national and international agencies. Since 1993, Anheuser-Busch has donated more than $145,000 to the JJF and a total of $5.3 million to Jewish agencies nationwide.
• Crucial Care, the free-standing emergency room alternative located at Baymeadows Road and 9A, has announced a special Thanksgiving holiday schedule to meet demand. The facility opened at 8 a.m. today and will remain open until 3 p.m. Weekend hours will also be 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Crucial Care will return to its normal weekday hours of 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday.
