Part of North Florida’s history is being remembered in a new development, Villas Continental and Yacht Club.

Located adjacent to the historic Club Continental in Orange Park, Villas Continental and Yacht Club is being restored by local developer Kathy Anderson.

In 1966, Caleb Johnson Massee, the great-grandson of the founder of the Palmolive Soap Company, converted his family’s summer home (built in 1923) to a private dining club, naming it Club Continental. That same year Massee started construction on the Villas Continental, which he built as a waterfront community.

Restoration of the Villas Continental & Yacht Club began in 2005 and this process has involved near-total renovation of each unit. The original Mediterranean style architecture has been left intact, preserving arched doorways, beamed ceilings, balconies, ironwork and other distinctive details.

Virtually no two units on the property are exactly alike and start in the low $200,000s.

Construction is currently underway for a 66-slip marina and slips will be offered to residents for $130,000.

Re/Max Specialists is handling sales.
