Full-time firefighter and part-time artist Ross Curington is putting the finishing touches on a wall mural this week at the new Nicky G’s Brick Oven Pizza on East Bay Street. Curington’s creation depicts the block that includes the new restaurant with the second floor ablaze. He said it’s hopefully not prophetic. The owners of what is about to be Downtown’s newest Italian eatery are also firefighters and found evidence of a previous conflagration between the floors during renovation, inspiring the mural’s subject matter.
