The unveiling of the Team PGA TOUR jerseys for this year’s PGA TOUR MS Bike Ride was last Friday. This year’s two-day bike ride is Sept. 29-30.
This event hits a little closer to home for the PGA TOUR, because one of their own, Rob Uselman, project manager of Information Systems, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1992.
Uselman started working with the TOUR in 1987 as a mechanic in Golf Course Maintenance. After he was diagnosed with MS, the PGA TOUR offered him a job in the Information Systems department in 1995 as a programmer.
Uselman and Graphic Designer for the PGA Tour Rob Knox unveiled the jersey.
“Things like the PGA Tour MS Bike Ride and the MS Society is what gives people like me hope,” said Uselman. “Having MS can sometimes be a very scary and lonely thing. But when I see all the riders out there, and all the people behind the effort to do something about MS, I no longer feel so alone.
“I am very lucky to have been working for an organization like the PGA Tour when MS struck. In my case, MS has taken plenty away, but because of my employment with the TOUR it has given much more back than it took away.”
This year’s captains are Rebecca West, risk management specialist in finance for the TOUR and Kristie Reeves, project manager in new media for the TOUR. Participants will ride for two days starting in St. Augustine to the Plaza Resort & Spa in Daytona Beach. Participants will stay the night in Daytona and return to St. Augustine the following day.
