Most people didn’t stick around until the vote was finally taken, but City Council chambers were filled almost to capacity when the debate and public hearings over the budget and proposed fees began Tuesday at 5 p.m. at City Hall. Following almost seven hours of public hearings and comment, at 2 a.m. the meeting was adjourned after Council approved the City’s fiscal year 2008 budget as well as the solid waste and stormwater fees. The members will reconvene today at 1 p.m. to take up the rest of last night’s agenda.
