Capt. Leonard (second from bottom) and Eleanor Blanchart (bottom) were recognized Tuesday for their $1 million gift to the University of North Florida for its Capt. and Mrs. Leonard Blanchart Maritime Endowed Scholarship Fund. The donation, matched 75 percent by the State of Florida, brings the scholarship endowment to $2.25 million that will provide 30 scholarships. Eligible students come from Bishop Snyder, Episcopal, St. Joseph, Trinity Christian, University Christian and Bishop Kenny high schools. UNF President John Delaney (second from top) and UNF’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement Pierre Allaire (top) were on hand to thank the Blancharts for the gift. “This commitment will make a significant difference in the lives of students and ensures that UNF will continue to be an important resource for our community,” said Delaney.
