The Hispanic Bar Association of Northeast Florida will celebrate Cinco de Mayo a day early with a party at Hanna Park. Recognized nationally on May 5, the Hispanic Bar will hold “lechon asado” — order of the roasted pig — May 4 at the oceanfront City park between Atlantic Beach and Naval Station Mayport.

The event runs from 2-6 p.m. and is free except for the $3 admission charge to get into the park. The traditional Hispanic menu includes roasted pork, black beans and rice, plantains and soft drinks. Attorney Paola Parra of Harris Guidi said all judges, judicial assistants, attorneys, law students and their families are invited to the inaugural event.

“What a wonderful way to celebrate spring and promote the HBA’s mission of fostering fellowship among judges, lawyers and law students in the region while celebrating in our cultural style,” said Parra. “I expect everyone will enjoy this event and will want to do this year after year.”

There will also be a bouncy house for the kids, music, and the beach.

Anyone interested should contact HBA President Ada Hammond by May 1 at [email protected]. For more information about the Hispanic Bar, visit www.hbajax.org.
