Over 75 area companies and the City of Jacksonville celebrated Earth Day a little early during the 38th Annual Earth Day and Ecology Fair at the Jacksonville Landing Saturday from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. The event featured over 100 booths with educational and environmentally-friendly information and drew over 5,000 people throughout the six-hour, free admission event. There was live entertainment and a children’s craft area with hands-on activities. Some of the exhibitors included The Animal Channel, The Museum of Science & History, National Weather Service, Northeast Florida Aquatic Preserve, Magnolia Farms and Wild Amelia Nature Festival. The children’s stage also featured several live performances with different exotic reptiles, snakes, owls and parrots. “It was by far our biggest turnout for Earth Day festivities,” said Landing Public Relations Director Rachel Nudge. “The event offered a lot of different shows and activities that many children and families could experience hands-on.”
