Jacksonville goods, Dominican buyers

Arlington clothing wholesaler Amen Wonyi (left) of The Clothing Studio shows off his styles to Sandra Caraballo, a clothing retailer in the Dominican Republic, at Thursday’s trade mission sponsored by the Jacksonville Port Authority, Enterprise Florida and the Florida Foreign Trade Association. About 21 Dominican business representatives met with 36 Jacksonville business representatives to discuss trade opportunities in industries ranging from real estate, automobile and motorcycle accessories, gifts and novelties, home furnishings and paper products. The Port Authority reports that of the 8 million tons of cargo moved through Jacksonville’s port last year, about 25,000 tons was imported from or exported to the Dominican Republic.
