Attorney Eric Smith is an avid collector of historic artifacts related to Jacksonville and its history. He’s shown with what he described as one of his “most treasured finds,” a scrapbook of transit-related newspaper clippings he rescued years ago from a building owned by the Jacksonville Traction Company. “Their streetcar barn was on Riverside Avenue right across from where the Times-Union is now. They tore down the barn to make way for the expressway ramp,” said Smith, who added, “I like to collect Jacksonville’s history because I think it’s fascinating how so many of the things that are important issues today have always been important issues.”
