The education continued for members of the Young Lawyers Section (YLS) of the Jacksonville Bar Association Dec. 12.

There were no books and no test would follow, but a lunch with members of the federal bench helped them learn about the judges and the courts over which they preside.

“Good forum to meet face to face with judges casually instead of in a courtroom,” said YLS member Christian George, of Liles Gavin. “I am impressed that they were able to take time out of their busy schedules to spend time with young lawyers.”

A group of about 50 people enjoyed lunch and conversation in the jury assembly room of the Bryan Simpson U.S. Court in Jacksonville during the event. The YLS last met with judges during a judicial breakfast in October where members mingled with Circuit Court judges from the Criminal Division and Duval County Judges.

The YLS is composed of area young lawyers who are 35 years old or younger or who have been practicing law less than five years.
