• Attorney General Bill McCollum will be in town Feb. 21 for the Justice Coalition’s annual “Together We Can” campaign. The event starts at 7:20 a.m. at the Fraternal Order of Police headquarters on Beach Boulevard. Six area sheriffs including Sheriff John Rutherford are scheduled to attend.

• Jacksonville Economic Development Commission Project Manager Lindsey Ballas recently earned her Certified Economic Developer designation. Ballas passed the exam the first time and was one of eight to pass out of 25 who took the test. Statewide, there are only 45 people with the CED designation.

• Correction. The board of directors at daniel is throwing retired Circuit Court Judge Dorothy Pate a 75th birthday party Feb. 26 at the River Club. Monday’s Daily Record article listed the wrong date.

• Mayor John Peyton has appointed Dr. Chester Aikens to the Jacksonville Aviation Authority board. Aikens has practiced general dentistry in Jacksonville after attending the Howard University College of Dentistry and subsequently earning an MBA from Jacksonville University and a J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law. He has served on numerous boards including the Jacksonville Urban League, Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and the Jacksonville Port Authority from 1993-99.

• Gator Bowl Association President Rick Catlett is trying to help three recently laid-off employees find jobs. Catlett sent mayoral policy chief Adam Hollingsworth a cover letter and resume on behalf of Alex Langston. Along with Langston — whose wife, Christina, works in the City’s Office of Special Events — Pat Corda and Jennifer Strickland were part of the downsizing.

• The PGA Tour and its TPC Networks are sponsoring a couple of benefit lacrosse matches at Fletcher High on Saturday. In a men’s match, the University of Delaware and the University of Maryland Baltimore County will square off at noon. Following that match, Pfeiffer University and Rollins College will play in a women’s match. Tickets to both games are $15 and proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
