Movies making money for Jacksonville was the topic of Todd Roobin’s (right) presentation to members of the Downtown Rotary Club of Jacksonville during their luncheon Monday. Roobin, head of the Jacksonville Film & Television Office, described the economic impact that cinema and television production brings to the area. “Without question, you’ve heard that there is no business like show business,” said Roobin. The latest movie filmed locally, “Recount,” had a local payroll of $1.75 million, used 60 hires, had 4,900 room nights, $550,000 for four local lodgings, 2,200 extras, $110,000 worth of products and local lumber used for set construction, $225,000 for utilities and cleanup and more. Roobin is pictured here with commercial real estate broker Allen Skinner.
