• Downtown Vision Inc. has released its 2007 annual report. In the cover letter, DVI Executive Director Terry Lorince said the group’s top accomplishments for the year are “reorganizing our staff to be more accountable to our Downtown stakeholders, refocusing our Downtown Ambassador program to address increased nuisance activity Downtown, and creating activities and events to bring more people Downtown.”
• The renovations to the old Lerner Building across from the Police & Fire Pension Fund building on Adams Street appear to have come to an end for the foreseeable future. An employee of the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission said the last two contractors on site packed up their stuff and left Tuesday.
• The Jacksonville Jam basketball team is offering fans who wear red a 25 percent discount to Friday night’s game against the Rockford Fury at the University of North Florida Arena. The promotion is part of the American Heart Association’s “Go Red For Women” campaign.
• The Museum of Science and History is teaming up with the City’s Environmental Protection Board and St. Johns River Water Management District to present a free Water Education Festival on Saturday. Interactive displays, live performances and other activities are scheduled from 10 a.m-4 p.m at MOSH.
• The City is seeking bids for the dredging project at the Metropolitan Park marina. According to the notice, the City is looking for a company to remove 7,854 cubic yards of material. Sealed bids are due by Feb. 20 at 2 p.m.
• Mike McCollum is the new director of business development at Stellar. McCollum is the son of Jim McCollum, the former BellSouth executive and current vice chair of the Jacksonville Aviation Authority board.
• The final show of The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens 2007-2008 Concert Series will feature The Enso String Quartet and pianist Joel Fan on Sunday at 3 p.m. Cost is included in museum admission, which is free to members and $10 for non-members. • Also on Sunday, the North Florida Hunter Jumper Association Grand Prix to benefit the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens will take place at The Clay County Fairgrounds. The event will include pony rides and stable tours for children at 10:30 a.m., a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. and a celebrity ride competition with local radio and television personalities at 1 p.m. The Grand Prix starts at 2 p.m. For more information, call 757-4463.
• The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce has set the year’s schedule for its board of governors meetings. They are Feb. 20, April 6, Aug. 20 and Oct. 15. All meetings are at the Jacksonville Marriott on the Southside.
