• The Jacksonville Port Authority will extend weekend ferry hours in order to accommodate those attending the kingfish tournament. The ferry will run on Friday and Saturday night with the last ferry leaving the Ft. George side at 12:15 a.m. “This is one way we can be flexible with the community and respond to increased need for ferry service while at the same time regularly continuing to whittle away at the ferry’s deficit,” said Port spokesperson Nancy Rubin.

• During yesterday’s Firehouse Subs/Jacksonville Fire and Rescue press conference about automatic external defibrillators, City Council member and Firehouse Subs Chief Financial Officer Stephen Joost thought maybe City Hall could use one. “Sometimes it seems all of City Hall is in cardiac arrest,” he said. “We might need to borrow one of those.” The equipment is used to electrically stimulate the heart to restore a normal heart beat.
