• Want to see the Florida State/Florida baseball game in Jacksonville on April 1? Well, if you’re a City Council member, just stop by Council President Daniel Davis’ office. Davis states in a letter to all Council members that his aide, Sarah Balme, has a limited amount of tickets to hand out on a first come, first serve basis, with a maximum amount of two tickets per Council member. The tickets are reportedly valued at $35 and wouldn’t need to be reported under the City’s current ethics laws.
• It has taken a while, but the Hyatt has replaced the chain link fence around its parking garage with a black, wrought iron fence. While it certainly looks much better, the fence also eliminated the space between the Landing’s parking lot and Independent Drive. You can’t cut through anymore, but jumping the concrete barrier is an option.
• Riverside Avondale Preservation Inc. (RAP) will present the 34th Annual RAP Tour of Homes April 26-27. The weekend-long tour will showcase 10 structures and offers visitors an opportunity to see some of the Riverside Avondale Historic District’s most diverse architectural styles. • The University of North Florida Fine Arts Center presents Gilbert & Sullivan’s “H.M.S. Pinafore” Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Lazarra Performance Hall. The show will be performed by the Carl Rosa Opera Company from London. • The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration Friday at 5:30 p.m. at its new Beaches office at 1300 Marsh Landing Parkway in Jacksonville Beach. The public is invited to tour the new facility from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. A VIP reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. hosted by the Chamber’s Board of Directors, Beaches Board of Directors, Beaches Task Force members and elected officials.
