The Meninak Club of Jacksonville recently awarded $25,000 in college scholarships to five Northeast Florida high school seniors.
This year’s recipients are Travis Gidado from The Bolles School, Miguel A. Lugo from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, Julia McClure from Forrest High, Michelle Mullaney from Providence, andWilliam Carraher-Stross from Fletcher High.
The recipients were selected after reviews based on leadership, financial need, academic potential and participation in the Youth Leadership Jacksonville Program. The students will use the grants to help them attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choosing.
“This unique scholarship recognizes leadership in Jacksonville’s youth and encourages further educational development for potential leaders,” said Scholarship chair Larry Cobb. “It is the cornerstone of our mission to help those in need where none is available.”
This is the 12th year the Meninak Leadership Grants have been awarded.
Including this year’s awards, 60 students have received a total of $300,000 in unrestricted college funds.
