Over 3,800 people attended last month’s, Builders Care sixth annual Demolition Derby at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center.

The day-long event that started with preparing the cars, raised money that will go back into the Jacksonville community and will allow Builders Care to repair more than 50 roofs for the citizens of Jacksonville.

“I had a good time and we wrecked a lot of cars. This year, giving the state of the housing market, it was important to have our annual fundraiser, a real ‘fun raiser,’ and I think we did it,” said Bill Wilson, executive director of Builders Care.

The 2008 Demolition Derby winner was Guy LaChappell, in the “Shapells’ Space Mobile.” The final smash off winner was Julie Castine, project manager for Builders Care, who drove for Coastal View Windows.
