Graduates of Andrew Jackson High School will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the school with an all-classes reunion at the Osborn Center Saturday from 1-6 p.m.
“Few schools have the deep roots of bonding that Andrew Jackson High School has,” said State Rep. Stan Jordan, a 1955 graduate of the school. “I can remember as a small child looking forward to attending Andrew Jackson High School.”
Opened in 1927, Andrew Jackson has many distinguished graduates. The Springfield school has provided a governor, a chief justice of the Supreme Court of Florida, numerous state legislators, mayors and city council members, police officers, firefighters, professional athletes, Grammy Award-winning musicians, military leaders and a Pulitzer Prize winner.
Over 5,000 people attended the 75th anniversary reunion in 2003. The event is free of charge and the dress is casual. A table will be set up for each graduating class with pictures and other appropriate memorabilia.
