Emmett Reed has resigned as Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice President of the Florida Homes Builders Association effective January 1 and will be succeeded by longtime executive Paul M. Thompson.

“Reed’s many contributions to the success of our association will leave an enduring legacy,” said FHBA President Jay Carlson. “He was the driving force behind the creation of our educational Foundation and Future Builders of America program, which trains young people for careers in our industry. Emmett’s impact in this and many areas will be felt for years to come.”

Reed, who began his career at the association 11 years ago as its membership director, said he would pursue other opportunities. For Thompson, this will be his third stint as the association’s chief executive, having served in that role in 1980-1984 and 1995-2005
