Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland looks over staff members manually counting results from the recent School Board District 3 race (W.C. Gentry vs. Jack Daniels) from a precinct at Calvin Presbyterian Church. Both the race and precinct were randomly selected by a blindfolded Judge Ruth, canvassing board chairman, Saturday using numbered pingpong balls in a tumbler. The ballots were triple counted Monday at the Elections Center at the Gateway Mall. The post certification process counts all absentee, early voting and Election Day ballots from the randomly selected precinct and is a means of ensuring voter confidence through machine accuracy. “I believe it’s a pretty good process and it’s reliable,” said Holland.
