House Bill 281 sponsored by State Rep. Mike Weinstein passed favorably through committees Tuesday and is ready to be heard on the House floor during the current the session of the State Legislature.

“I applaud the committee and council members for moving this bill forward that will have a tremendous positive impact for Florida students,” said Weinstein.

Thousands of partially used Florida pre-paid scholarships that were purchased by private, non-profit organizations contain various amounts of unused and abandoned credit hours.

Many students use all of the provided credit hours. However, some students stop short, leaving credit hours available. This bill allows the private, non-profit organizations that originally purchased the scholarships to reuse the abandoned remaining credit hours for new at-risk Florida students.
