Renovation equals support

Betty Metz of Books-A-Go Go, volunteer Wendy Starks, Beverly McClain, executive director of Families of Slain Children Inc., and Michelle Lynn Simms, general manager of Families of Slain Children, Inc., in front of a memorial to slain children of Jacksonville next to the new home of the organization. A place that will provide support to families who have lost children will have its grand opening today at 2 p.m. at 3108 Myrtle St. Mayor John Peyton and Dist. 8 City Council member Denise Lee are expected to attend. A candlelight vigil will follow Friday starting at 5 p.m. to honor the memories of slain children and an Easter egg hunt is Saturday from 2-5 p.m. The opening was made possible by donations from hundreds of individuals and businesses, McClain said.
