These life-size figures on display in the Main Library’s Conference Center near the Main Street entrance are replicas of what is described as “one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the 20th century.” They are replicas of some of the thousands of terra-cotta soldiers, noblemen and other objects unearthed from a tomb in China in 1974. The originals are currently on exhibit at the High Museum in Atlanta. The library’s collection was a gift from Jacksonville Public Library Foundation Chair Betsy Lovett and Past-chair Mike Hightower. According to Conference Center staff, they have become “quite a conversation piece.”
