It was standing-room-only at the Landing at noon Wednesday for the First Coast Tea Party. The anti-taxation rally, held on deadline day for filing federal income tax returns, attracted groups including the local chapter of Fairtax.org, the Republican Party of Duval County and the Florida League of the South, among many others. The crowd was calling for reforms ranging from abolishing the Federal Reserve to impeaching Congress and cheered loudly when tea was symbolically poured into the St. Johns River. The rally was one of hundreds of similar events held across the country Wednesday to draw attention to the issues.
