• Former United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida Paul Perez is one of two new trustees of The Community Foundation. Perez, who is now with Fidelity National Financial, is joined by longtime volunteer and philanthropist Peggy Bryan. Both are serving four-year terms.

• City Council members Kevin Hyde and Art Graham will meet May 4 to discuss the Summer 2009 Cooperative Beaches Trolley Project. The meeting is at 5 p.m. at the Jacksonville Beach Community Center. All indications are the popular trolley — which debuted last summer — will be back this summer.

• Attorney Meghan Searls has joined the law office of Morgan and Morgan Jacksonville, coming to the organization from Dore & Phillips. Searls has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2004 and is a member of the American Bar Association.

• More than 600 elementary school students will be strutting their stuff through performing arts as part of Cathedral Arts Projects “Showcase of the Arts” event at the Ritz Theatre May 2–3. Benefits go toward Cathedral Arts programs, with tickets going for $4 for adults and $2 for children. For more information on the event, call Melanie Messer at 281-5599 ext. 18.

• Sculptures... paintings... video surveillance? All can be called art and The Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville will be showcasing the latter in its new exhibit “Balance and Power: Performance and Surveillance in Video Art” beginning today through August 30.

• The business card may read Stone, Taylor & Associates on Mitchell Stone’s business card, but the firm changed its name to Stone & Associates in January.

• The University of Florida Levin College of Law celebrated its 100th anniversary throughout the weekend and part of the activities included a kickball game between alumni — “The Employed” — and the students — “The Replacements.”
