• Hemming Plaza was originally built in 1866 and was once home to the famous Windsor and St. James hotels. Three important pieces of history still stand today — the Confederate Memorial that was donated by Charles C. Hemming (a Civil War veteran) in 1899 and the St. James Building designed by famous architect Henry J. Klutho in 1912, which is now City Hall. The Seminole Club across from Hemming Plaza is also over 100 years old.
