• What is now one of JEA’s conference rooms was once a landmark Jacksonville restaurant. “The Embers,” as it was called in the 1960s was considered the most elegant and popular restaurant Downtown. The 19th floor restaurant revolved and offered 270-degree views of the city. After closing in the early ‘70s, the motor and gears were removed and it was converted into an executive office. Today, JEA uses the space for meetings as well as a sort of observation deck for the fireworks displays throughout the year.
