Banks to bring goodwill to Mexico

George Banks (right), former City Council member and International Director of the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission, has promoted trade and cultural goodwill to other countries on Jacksonville’s behalf for several years. But now he has a set destination to foster relationships. Banks received the title of Honorary Consul of Mexico for Jacksonville from Mexican Consul Jaime Paz y Puente (left) of the Orlando Consulate during a ceremony at the McCormick agency Thursday. “It is an honor and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Banks, who succeeds Hy Kliman in the role. “I’m going to really push for trade and many more cultural affairs with Mexico.”
