Most city government offices and facilities will be closed in observance of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
The City has announced the following offices and buildings are closed those days:
• City Hall at St. James
• Edward Ball Building
• Jake M. Godbold City Hall Annex
• Office of the Tax Collector, Yates Building
• All Tax Collector branch offices
• Office of the Property Appraiser, Yates Building
• Duval County Courthouse
• Supervisor of Elections main office on East Monroe Street
• Supervisor of Elections branch office, on Norwood Avenue
• Planning and Development Department administrative offices
• Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS)
• ACPS Mandarin Adoption Center on San Jose Boulevard
• ACPS Animal Code Enforcement Office on West First Street
• Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department administrative offices
• Recreation and Community Services Department offices
• All community and senior centers and gymnasiums managed by the Recreation and Community Services Department
• Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park Nature Center
• Victim Services Center
• Jacksonville Children’s Commission
• Behavioral and Human Services Division Emergency Assistance office
• Right-of-Way and Grounds Maintenance administrative offices
• Solid Waste Division administrative offices
• The Ritz Theatre & Museum
• Jacksonville Public Library
The Jacksonville Public Library (Main Library and all branches) will be closed Dec. 24-25. All units will close early (6 p.m.) on New Year’s Eve and will be closed all day on New Year’s Day.
Garbage, yard waste and recycling collection
• Christmas Eve: Residential garbage, yard waste and recycling — except for appliances — will be collected as usual Dec. 24.
The Trail Ridge Landfill on U.S. Highway 301 will maintain normal operating hours. The Household Hazardous Waste Facility on Commonwealth Avenue will be closed Dec. 24-25.
• Christmas Day: Residential garbage, yard waste and recycling will not be collected on Christmas Day. Residential garbage, yard waste and recycling normally collected on Friday will be collected Dec. 26. The Trail Ridge Landfill will be closed Christmas Day
• New Year’s Day: Residential garbage, yard waste and recycling — except for appliances — will be collected as usual Jan. 1.

Huguenot Memorial Park
Huguenot Memorial Park will maintain regular hours (8 a.m.-6 p.m.). Day-use visitors may enter from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. All but permitted campers and their authorized visitors must depart by 6 p.m. Visitors of campers should pre-register with the office and acquire a visitor pass to stay in the park until 10 p.m. Camping reservations can be made by phone Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Pedestrian traffic only is allowed on the beach after 6 p.m.
Periodically, Huguenot Memorial Park managers must implement limited beach parking plans in preparation for high tides or other natural occurrences which could cause beach and/or park closures if maximum vehicle capacity is reached. Park-goers are always encouraged to check conditions prior to visiting the park by calling 251-3335 or visitingwww.jaxparks.com.
Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park
Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park will maintain regular hours (8 a.m.-6 p.m.). Park day-users and campground visitors may enter from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. All but permitted campers and their registered visitors with passes must depart by 6 p.m. Camping reservations close at 5 p.m. daily. Only campers with prepaid reservations can gain access from 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. People without a prepaid pass waiting for them will not be admitted after 5:30 p.m. Tent campers must check-in and have tents set up by 6 p.m. After 9:30 p.m. no one may enter to set up on a campsite.
Pools
The Cecil Aquatics Center on Normandy Boulevard will be closed Dec. 24-25. The aquatic center will be open only for participants and spectators of the Annual JaxParks Swim Classic which takes place Jan. 1-3. The pool will resume normal operating hours for the general public Jan. 4. All 33 outdoor city pools are closed for the season.
