• The Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida will holds its “Youth of the Year” scholarship banquet Feb. 26. Each participating youth nominee will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship, with the winner given a $2,000 scholarship and the chance to compete in the regional “Youth of the Year” competition. The event will also be the first event for new executive director Dr. Shannon Perry.
• “Project Little Feet” may go down as the biggest baby shower in the history of Jacksonville. Set for March 22 in Metropolitan Park, expectant mothers of those in the military and their spouses are invited to attend the shower which starts at 1 p.m. You must register with the City March 1 at coj.net.
• The first “Climb Jacksonville” last Saturday stair climb hosted a group that spanned the ages. Nicki Emerson, Daniel Combs and Trey Smith were the youngest at 13 years of age and Marty Roy was the most senior participant at 78.

• Former Jaguars punter Bryan Barker and his wife Leah are the honorary chairs of this year’s “The Fashion Cure” — a benefit for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. • Bring a chair and easel but leave your clothes behind every Tuesday evening at Art Center at 111 E. Bay St. for open studio nude figure drawing sessions. Art Center members can participate for free, nonmembers will pay $10. The sessions culminate with a figure drawing show during the March 4 ArtWalk.
• Jacksonville Community Council Inc. members will learn about foster care at the next “Lunch and Learn” series Feb. 18 from noon–1 p.m. The lunchtime conversation will be “Changing Foster Care as We Know It!” with Nancy Dreicer, Northeast regional director of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
