Downtown Ecumenical Services Council (DESC) provides assistance for local families in transition who need temporary aid with “ordinary” necessities such as clothing. And, cooler weather accentuates the need for women’s and men’s shoes and socks.
The DESC Board, which consists of attorneys and other professionals, is urging all lawyers, and especially law firms, to rally to meet a current crisis situation by asking them and their staff to search their closets to gather all useable footwear (ladies: no stiletto heels, please) that have fallen out of favor or aren’t worn much anymore, if at all. For your convenience, these shoes may be brought to your law office, from which, volunteers will carry them to DESC (please contact Bob Beckham or Angie Coker at 798-7229 to arrange for pickup or if you require additional information).
The organization would like to complete the pick ups by Monday.
