• Goin wasn’t the only one who was pleased with the outcome of the game. Nebraska Cornhuskers coach Bo Pelini on his experience in Jacksonville following his team’s 26-21 win over the Clemson Tigers: “I’ve been to a lot of great bowl games but this has been the best experience I’ve ever had,” said Pelini. Pelini credited the City officials, volunteers and Gator Bowl officials for the “tremendous experience” everyone had and noted that while his team wanted to end the season with a win, the time his team had in Jacksonville “would have been a win-win” regardless.
• Monday is usually Meninak meeting day for the civc organization’s members, but the group hasn’t met since its Dec. 15 year-end festivities. The next meeting is Jan. 12 for the installation of 2009 officers. The next week, though, is another off day to celebrate Martin Luther King Day.
• Speaking of different meetings, the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization board isn’t meeting in January. Instead, it’ll have a retreat to catch up newly board members on the organization. Regular meetings will resume in February.
• Speaking of Wachovia, the bank is “displacing” 59 employees from its Baymeadows Operations Center. Any employee who isn’t placed elsewhere in the company will receive a severance package.
