The Florida Home Builders Association has listed its downtown Tallahassee properties for sale but has no intention of abandoning its strategic presence within blocks of the state Capitol, according to CEO/Executive Vice President Paul Thompson .

“Just like our members, FHBA is experiencing the effects of the severe housing downturn and the global recession,” said Thompson. “We have to look at every possible option to remain financially able to serve our members at a time when they need us the most.

“One such option might be to sell some or all of our downtown properties in a scenario that enables us to maintain our location near the Capitol. Such a decision to sell can only be made by the FHBA Board of Directors.”

FHBA’s downtown properties include its own 10,214-square-foot office headquarters, an adjacent 17,859-square foot, three-story office building, and a 77-space parking garage. The properties have been listed with Francis Rentz of Sperry Van Ness in Tallahassee.
