The historic inauguration of President Barack Obama may not have been so grand if it weren’t for private contributions from people across America.

President Obama presented himself as the candidate of change during his campaign and he is striving to live up to that image.

He has charged his Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) with the responsibility of making the reporting of donations as transparent as possible. Donors contributing over $200 are listed at www.pic2009.org/page/content/donors.

According to the PIC Web site, it doesn’t accept contributions from corporations, political action committees, labor unions, current federally-registered lobbyists, non-U.S. Citizens and registered foreign agents. Individual donations are capped at $50,000.
