The overcast skies June 30 caused more sweat than the temperature, but the Jacksonville Bar Association golf and tennis outing and annual meeting was held as planned without any further rain delay.
Deerwood Country Club hosted 118 golfers and seven tennis players for the two tournaments on the last day in June. Overcast skies and a constant breeze helped hold off high temperatures during the round. Nothing could cool off the foursomes of Frank Hession of Hession & Ferrante, Mike O’Neal of Howell O’Neal, Peter Kellogg of the Law Offices of Amy Warpinski and Kevin Jakab of Howell O’Neal, who won first place gross with a 58, and R. Troy Smith of Holland & Knight, Kevin Cook of the Bedell Firm, Mike Lockamy and Pat Coll of the Bedell Firm who won the net score with a 50. No one was lucky enough to sink a hole-in-one during the tournament, which would have allowed someone to take home a new Volvo from Osteen Volvo.
Missy Turra of Holland & Knight bested the field of seven at the tennis tournament to take home the title.
