Amelia gives out the goods
Another year brings another Amelia Island/Nassau County Association of Realtors Affiliate Expo.
But this year the marketing items given away were geared towards useful, eco-friendly items that can be used for a long time. That’s important in marketing, especially in this market.

Jenness shows off her new hairdo
Locks of Love
Barbara Jenness of Barbara B. Jenness Real Estate is known for her generosity and good will.
Recently she demonstrated that once again by cutting over 15 inches off her long beautiful curly locks for a good cause.
What prompted her to donate her hair?
Jenness has been growing her hair out for the past five years and never thought it would grow as long as it did.
“A friend mentioned it to me,” said Jenness. “I realized my hair was long enough to donate and with the warmer weather it was the best time of the year to do it. Also, I don’t have much gray yet so my hair would be acceptable, but this might not be true if I waited much longer.”
According to their Web site http://locksoflove.org, Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
The Web site also states that most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called Alopecia Areata, a disorder characterized by loss of hair. Sometimes this means simply a few bare patches on the scalp. In other cases, hair loss is more extensive. Jenness herself has experienced Alopecia Areata, but after steroid treatments was able to overcome it.
Jenness was excited to hear about Locks of Love and her ability to help others like herself. She is thankful that her hair grows quickly and she was able to assist. The hair requirements were a minimum of 10 inches. Jenness had 15 inches of curly hair.
So with spring in the air and time for a new “do,” Jenness contacted her stylist Randy Bruner at Mane deLeon in St. Augustine. He braided the hair, cut the braid, and gave her a fresh new look for the summer.
Jenness is enjoying her new hair.
“I am still getting used to it,” she said. “It certainly is a weight off my shoulders.”
