• During his report to board members of the North Florida TPO, Jacksonville Aviation Authority Chair Jim McCollum said the process to find a replacement for John Clark, JAA CEO and executive director, will begin during the authority’s board meeting March 23. Clark recently accepted a similar position at Indianapolis Airport Authority.

• It will be a while before the heightened security measures at the front door of City Hall go into effect. A system that will allow only City employees with magnetic-stripe badges to walk through security without going through the metal detector has been installed, but there’s a problem: it’s the wrong model. The current installation will be removed and replaced with the design the City ordered, one with a gate that will prevent those without proper credentials from merely walking through the checkpoint.

• Visit Jacksonville has received a First Place award from the North American Travel Journalists Association for its Web site which was launched one year ago. The 17th annual NAJTA competition produced entries from hundreds of destinations plus travel magazines, newspapers, Internet sites and publishers. Visit Jacksonville Communications Manager Jennifer Bryant will accept the award June 2 in Cleveland at NAJTA’s national conference.

• The Jacksonville Ethics Commission will meet March 23 at 5 p.m. in the Lynwood Roberts Room at City Hall. The meeting is open to the public and all interested parties are invited to attend.

• The Jacksonville Film Festival will screen the international documentary “Invisibles” Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville. The Doctors Without Borders organization sponsored the compilation of five short films which detail atrocities being committed on the underrepresented and poverty-stricken around the world. Tickets are $6 for museum members, $8 for non-members.

• Danis Construction has hired Shana Herrin as its new marketing coordinator. Most recently she worked with Ring Power Corporation in St. Augustine where she was promotions coordinator, event planner and graphic designer. Danis Construction is currently putting the finishing touches on the City Hall Annex Building at the corner of Laura and Duval streets.
