After a five-year hiatus, the “Starry Nights” outdoor music series is being revived by the City’s Office of Special Events as part of “Make a Scene Downtown.”

The concerts combine a popular entertainer with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra as the audience eats and drinks under the stars by the St. Johns River.

“So many people have told us how much they missed Starry Nights. We’re thrilled to get the symphony back in Metropolitan Park,” said Theresa Price, the City’s director of special events.

One concert is scheduled for this season when LeAnn Rimes will perform May 16. Three dates have been reserved for the symphony’s 2010 season and previous Starry Nights concertgoers will find that things they enjoyed about the experience years ago have been restored for the new edition.

“We’ll have VIP table seating for $50 per person, table seating for $25 and general admission seating on the lawn will be $15 for those who want to bring a picnic and a blanket,” said Price. “Catered meals from local restaurants can be pre-ordered and we’ll also have vendors on site selling food and beverages.

“This will be a great way to utilize our waterfront concert venue and it’s the week before the Jazz Festival.”
